Hello, we are so back with a belated month of summer camp horror movies. We are going to kick this shindig off with a holdover from last month's movies about moms with The Final Girls. A little movie with a lot of heart and some incredible jokes. Join us as we venture off to the Let's Scare My Girlfriend to Death summer camp.

Lights Out

We continue our month of mother's day movies with a horror mom that's more cautionary than some of our previously celebrated moms. We watched and finally got to record our episode for Lights Out. If you're a long time listener you know anything that as regular and well crafted jump scares really scares Cyndi. However was it enough to kill her? You'll have to listen to find out and join us next week as we wrap up mother's day and begin June with The Final Girls.

Housebound

Did you watch Panic Room and think I loved this but I wish it were a tonal roller coaster that's both funny and scary? Well then you're in luck because we watched Housebound. A movie that scared Cyndi more than Panic Room by a country mile. Did we like it? Where we entertained? Did it scare Cyndi to death? Join us to find out. 

Panic Room

We begin our month of celebrating moms with a New York City Brownstone, a hidden fortune, a corn rowed Jared Leto, a sympathetic Forest Whitaker, a psychopathic Dwight Yoakum, a young Kristen Stewart, a protective motherly Jodie Foster, a meticulous director in David Fincher, and it all centers on a Panic Room. That's right we watched the 2002 David Fincher Panic Room join us if you dare. 

Marshland

We ended the month with a serial killer film that feels a little like Zodiac by way of True Detective Season 1. That's right we watched Marshland, a Spanish serial killer - police procedural movie to end our month of award winning films. Did we like it? Were we floored by how pretty it was? Did it scare Cyndi to death? Join us to find out. 

The Secret in Their Eyes

We watched The Secret in their Eyes. Not the American remake with Julia Roberts and Nicole Kidman. The original 2009 film from Argentina and all we can say is wow. One of the great nearly forgotten revenge movies and a film that not only won major Goya awards but won best foreign language film at the Oscars. Did we like it? Did it scare Cyndi to death? Join us to find out and enjoy this incredible movie. 

Shin Godzilla

We are back and we figured what better day to drop our Shin Godzilla episode. The day the first teaser for Godzilla Minus Zero was released. Well we did it. We watched another Godzilla movie. This movie is part allegory and part Godzilla movie by way of David Cronenberg. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did. 

Taking a Time Out

As things in Appalachia (and all of America) get harder and harder to navigate, your favorite podcast-couple-who break-down-horror-movies-thematically-by-month are taking a break from making episodes. We'll be back in April. Until then...

Decision to Leave

Back to back Chan Wook Park films on the Let's Scare My Girlfriend to Death timeline. To go from Thirst to Decision to Leave is notable in the way the films overlap and are at odds with one another. There are no monsters or vampires in this film. There are no sex scenes at least not in the same respect as Thirst. However, this film has twists, turns, longing for someone you can't or shouldn't be with, and murder. If you've ever wondered what a director at the height of his powers of composition and blocking looks like then this move is for you. 

Thirst

Well as we come to the end of our month of Valentine's horror we watched Thirst. That's right a South Korean vampire, romance film from the director of Oldboy. Did we like it? Was Cyndi grossed out? Did it scare her to death? Join us this week to find out.
